The 10 Most Amazing Sculptures of 2014

We’ve covered plenty of incredible sculptures this year so we thought we would do a round up of our favourites. What never ceases to amaze us is the creativity of people and their skill. The ability to craft materials such as metal, glass and even pencils into beautiful works of art is astounding. Here are the 10 most amazing sculptures of 2014.

2. Mesmerising Hand Crafted Paper Sculptures

Artist Jen Stark creates beautiful hand crafted paper sculptures by layering sheets of paper to create a three dimensional effect that leaves the viewer mesmerised. The rainbow shaped wormholes appear to lead to another world full of colour. See more here.

3. Movie Characters Sculpted from Scrap Metal

A metal workshop in Thailand called Ban Hun Lek takes some of our favourite movie characters including Optimus Prime, the Hulk and Minions from Despicable Me to name a few. Read more here.

4. Miniature Sculptures Carved into the Tips of Pencils

These miniature sculptures are all carved by Recep Alçamlı, a Chemical Engineering student from Turkey. Using just the graphite from a pencil he is able to sculpt letters, animals and even small sections of scenery. See more here.

Creating art from metal takes a lot of skill, but making art from recycled metal, electronics and old watch parts takes even more skill, talent and creativity. These amazing and intricate steampunk sculptures of animals are created by Russian artist Igor Verniy and it’s the amount of detail and work that goes into them that makes them so impressive. ake a look at these stunning glass artworks by American artist Shayna Leib. UK based artist Ptolemy Elrington has been creating animal sculptures from discarded hubcaps for over twelve years, so as you can imagine what he creates is truly incredible. See more here.

9.5,000 Melting Ice Sculptures Remember the Fallen of WWI

Brazilian artist and sculptor Nele Azevedo has arranged 5,000 small ice figures on the steps of Chamberlain Square in Birmingham, U.K. in order to remember the men and women that lost their lives during WWI, including civilians. See more here.

10. Mystical Fairy Sculptures Using Stainless Steel Wire

Using stainless steel as his chosen medium, UK sculptor Robin Wight is able to create dramatic fairytale scenes of fairies clinging to trees and flowers whilst giving them the appearance of floating in the air. See more here.
