This incredibly detailed image of earth is the first true-colour shot of what we as a planet actually look like from space. Although this is not exactly how we would appear to the naked eye or direct observers. The photo uses 16 imaging bands of the Japan Meteorological Agency's Himawari-8 satellite to produce this overall image of a 'natural' earth.
The photo offers a slightly less vibrant version of earth than we are used to seeing but it still looks as awe-inspiring as ever. If you want the full resolution version of this photo which is 11,000 x 1,000 pixels then head over to JMA's website.
