Incredible Concept Art from the Original Star Wars Trilogy by Ralph McQuarrie

After the first trailer for the latest movie in the Star Wars saga was released, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, late last year everyone has been super hyped for the latest edition in a long line of epic sci-fi movies. Looking back at the original trilogy and where it started, it really was the first of its kind to imagine what a universe full of space travel, Jedi’s and Storm Troopers might look like.

From start to finish each movie wouldn’t have been possible without the crazy costume and set designs. This is where the concept art of artist Ralph Angus McQuarrie played a big part.

McQuarrie was a conceptual designer and illustrator from America who’s career saw him work on some of the most iconic sci-fi movies and television series to date including the original Battlestar Galactica TV series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Cocoon. Below are some of our favourite works of concept art by McQuarrie from the original Star Wars trilogy.
