These incredible photographs taken by British photographer Paul Thompson are not what they seem. Although they appear to be long exposure photographs taken at dusk they are actually taken almost in complete darkness. For years now Thompson has been pushing the boundaries of night photography using his large format camera and the results speak for themselves in these stunning photos that are part of a series titled Moonlight.
When taking the photographs Thompson cannot see the final composition and he doesn’t test the photo either, if they don’t turn out right then he will simply discard the photo and move on rather than try and re-shoot. Each exposure can take up to 2 hours!
