Illustrator Demonstrates How Living the Single Life Is Actually Quite Enjoyable

Alone this Valentines Day? fear not, being single isn’t as bad as others will lead you to believe. In her series titled “Postmodern Loneliness” Mexico-based artist Idalia Candelas has been busy using pencil, ink and watercolour to celebrate the single life.

Inspired by her own experiences living alone in Mexico City Candelas has been Illustrating women who are also content to be alone. “I like to show women who exist in solitude but do not suffer. They are not depressed or crying. Rather they are safe, exalting in the sense of enjoying the company of just herself,” Candelas told Mic.

The end result is a series of light hearted illustrations that show being in a relationship isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You can see more of Candelas artwork on Facebook and Instagram.
