China Unveils Colossal 1,320-Ton God of War Statue

As epic as a ‘god of war’ statue should be this monumental statue recently unveiled in Guan Yu Park in Jingzhou, China, is every bit of amazing as you’d expect. The enormous statue of Guan Yu, a famous general in Chinese history who was later viewed as a deity is an impressive 58 metres tall (190ft) and weighs more than 1,320 tonnes.

The statues structure also consists of more than 4,000 strips of bronze and was designed by Han Meilin who also helped in creating the mascots for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This project however is on a slightly larger scale, to the point that there’s even a 8,000 square meter museum hidden inside it. A fitting monument for a god.
