Designer Creates Clever Illustrations That Turn Arabic Words into Their Literal Meanings

Egypt-based graphic designer Mahmoud Tammam has turned his love for word manipulation into a beautiful series in which he turns the arabic language into illustrations that take on the form of both the word in question and it’s literal meaning.

The creative project started as something of a “personal challenge” says Tammam however 40 illustrated words later he’s certainly mastered the art of manipulating the arabic language and turning its words into artwork. Using the letters curves, dots and lines Tammam manipulates the words key features in such a way that even if you can’t pronounce or say the word you’re reading it’s still instantly recognisable thanks to the illustration. You can see more of the designers work on BehanceFacebook and Instagram.
