Photographer Rebecca Litchfield has been busy photographing the impressive abandoned buildings of the former Communist state, revealing the impressive architecture that was once a symbol of power but now lies in a stay of decay - slowly being reclaimed by nature.
A lot of these buildings are known by locals but they are never explored as they remain boarded up and off limits to the public, but that doesn't stop Rebecca exploring these creepy abandoned buildings. The buildings were part of the Soviet Union which in 1991 after 70 years in power broke up into 15 separate countries.
Rebecca travelled to 13 of these countries to document these abandoned buildings in a book called “Soviet Ghosts” which you can check out via her website.
Rebecca's photos are important as they help to document these historical buildings, making sure they are never forgotten after they fall into a state of such disrepair that they are no longer recognisable.
