This series by German photographer Rebecca Rütten takes the very best of Renaissance paintings and mixes it together with fast food to create classic paintings with a modern day twist. The photo series creates a strong contrast between what we are used to seeing in classical paintings as we would normally expect expensive food and vast banquets.
This is of course no mistake, as Rütten writes "In my opinion, Fast Food Culture represents these two social classes in the United States today. To eat healthy is expensive. However, one can buy large amounts of food at a fast food restaurant for a comparatively low price."
The photographer asked her friends and family to pose in the photographs and really tried to capture their modern day appearance, often asking them to expose tattoos and piercings which add to the effect.
