What started as an assignment at an art school has become an ongoing series in which artist and designer Ji Lee takes ordinary words and transforms them into playful illustrations. The original assignment asked Lee to explore the words 'creative potential' and to see past the letterforms that can be seen at face value.
According to Lee 'cracking' a word is incredibly difficult but it's the reward that has kept him coming back as he continues to play around with new words all the time. Even better is that each of the illustrations relates to the word itself, from the 'M' in stock market which becomes a line graph to the 'O' and 'L' in the word 'Clock' joining together to form a clock face.
Lee's approach to the series also means that it's not just inanimate objects that are transformed as celebrities such as Donald Drump and Kim Kardashian are also turn into funny illustrations. You can see more of Lee's work on his website and Facebook.
