These Realistic Wooden Sculptures of Food Will Leave You Hungry & Confused

After looking at the artwork of Japanese wood carving artist Seiji Kawasaki you’re left with mixed emotions, on one hand you can’t help but marvel at how realistic they are and on the other you’re left feeling hungry and disappointed that what you’re looking at isn’t real.

It all comes down to Kawasaki’s skill and talent in recreating the foods he creates down to the smallest of details and it isn’t until the artist has painted the wooden pieces of food that they truly come to life.

Through these ultra-realistic sculptures Kawasaki’s intention is to play with the audiences emotions as they’re left feeling hungry even though they know the food is not edible – an idea that the artist finds interesting and likes to toy with. You can see more of his work on his Instagram and Facebook.
