Artist Battles With His Depression Through Dark & Surreal Paintings

Although depression is certainly not an illness to be taken lightly, rather than let his own depression consume him Polish artist Dawid Planeta turned it into a positive, using it to both fuel his creativity and as a way of coping whilst creating the striking and mysterious artworks that you see below.

The recurring theme throughout Planeta's artworks is a lone man wondering through a vast world that's devoid of colour and full of mysterious creatures and mythical beings that lurk in the shadows. Make no mistake, the greyscale and monochrome features as well as the lurking creatures are likely metaphors for Planeta's depression and the issues that trouble him the most. You can see more of his work over on Tumblr and Facebook.
