These amazing sculptures where created by John Piccoli, who is nicknamed “The Spanner Man”.
Around 30 years ago Piccoli started creating garden sculptures out of spanners.
Over the years he has become more skilled, creating works of art that are museum worthy.
Piccoli’s art appears in many galleries around Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney and St. Kilda.
These are the materials he works from.
His work becomes even more impressive when you realise Piccoli, now in his 70’s, contracted polio when he was just eight. This has lead to him being in a wheelchair, and despite this, he still creates these amazing sculptures. His large workshop is equipped with a cross-over gantry crane and several block and tackles that allow him to work at chair level, yet in three dimensions.
