It turns out that too much love really is a bad thing, as the city of Paris has just found out. So many padlocks of love have been placed on the bridge that part of the railing has collapsed under all that additional weight.
Every year thousands of lovers visit the Pont des Arts in order to seal their love by attaching a lock onto the bridges railings and throwing the key into the Seine river. It has now got to the point where the entire 150 metre long bridge is completely covered in locks.
It has become something of a craze that has swept other counties in recent years including Germany, Russia, China and particularly Italy.
