Striking Campaign Perfectly Captures the Problem with Women’s Beauty Standards

There has been a new trend to emerge recently in adverts that target women. Instead of appealing to their love for shopping or desire to look great and have the very best products advertisers are now taking the inspirational and empowering route in order to grab women’s attention.

As of recently there have been a couple of advertising campaigns that have done this, for example  “Like a Girl” which was created in order to show that girls are just as good as guys, despite the phrase “like a girl“.

The latest advertising campaign to jump on the bandwagon is “Stop the Beauty Madness” which is creating images that are trying to let women know that their value has nothing to do with the way they look.

Taking on stupid trends such as “thigh gap” the ad series highlights unattainable beauty standards whilst also questioning the value we put on beauty in the first place.

Robin rice is the founder of this project and said that she wanted to show us how we have become so concerned with superficial standards that we have forgotten what really matters.
