In winter, when the temperature drops below freezing, icy formations known as ‘frost flowers’ appear. This, in short, is because the airtemperaturee reaches freezing point before the ground does, thus creating tiny air pockets for these beautiful flowers to be formed in.
Maybe next time you wake up and you can’t be bothered to take the dog for a walk because it’s too cold outside, think about an opportunity to see one of these!
