It was two years ago that a group of interaction design students studying at the HAWK University first unveiled this concept of StreetPong for traffic light crossings. The concept video which is the one above got so much attention that it sparked enough interest to get designers Amelie Künzler, Sandro Angel, and Holger Michel to work with other design firms to make this awesome concept a fully working device.
It might have taken a while but they have finally been approved for use in the city of Hildesheim, Germany. Now rebranded as the ActiWait, not only does it entertain people whilst they wait, but deters them from crossing the road before it’s safe to do so.
