Artist Creates Historically Inspired Armour for Cats and Mice

As if cats being considered the unofficial bosses of the internet wasn’t enough, Canadian artist Jeff de Boer has decided to give them warrior status as well by sculpting incredible metal armour suits for cats as well as mice that are based on different historical eras and cultures.

The project started 30 years ago as a hobby on the side but has since grown into a lifetimes worth of work. Since then Boer has covered pretty much every ancient era you can imagine, turning cats and mice into gladiators, knights of the round table and even elven princesses.

The sculptures themselves are crafted mainly from bronze and copper and even the smallest of mice can take anywhere between 10-40 hours of careful crafting from start to finish. After seeing these you’ll probably be wanting to get one and put it on your own cat – apparently Jeff tried once, but his cat didn’t take too well to it.

If you like these then you should check out this book that Jeff recently published titled ‘Jeff de Boer‘ that includes some of his favourite pieces.
