You’ve probably never seen or even heard of this adorable little animal, but after seeing these photos it will almost certainly be your favourite. Meet the Ili Pika, one of the rarest and most endangered animals in the world. They are native to China and their population is now thought to be under 1,000.
Very little is known about these cute creatures and they are so rare that even scientists don’t know much about them. Li Weidong, a conservationist, recently spotted the Ili Pika for the first time in 20 years and managed to capture some photographs of the adorable animal that is actually a distant relative of the rabbit.
Li Weidong and his friends have nicknamed the Ili Pika ‘magic rabbit.’
