Getting punched by a silverback gorilla is certainly no fun, something that wildlife photographer Christophe Courteau found out first hand whilst in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
Whilst photographing the animals one of the gorillas decided he didn’t quite like Courteau being there and decided to jump up and swing a fist at him, instantly knocking Courteau over. The gorilla, named Akarevuro, weighs an incredible 250kg and was apparently ‘drunk on bamboo’ at the time of the attack.
Gorillas can apparently get rowdy when they’ve eaten a lot of bamboo in a short period of time. Christophe is ok but he certainly won’t be forgetting this encounter any time soon.
