Colourblind Father Tears up as He Sees the World in Colour for the First Time

Opie Hughes suffers from protanopia, a condition that effects his ability to see red and green colours properly. Although he could see well, he had never experienced the world in true colour until his sister gifted him a pair of EnChroma glasses for his birthday.

Hughes had been shown the glasses after his girlfriend sent him a link however they were to expensive. His sister, Katherine Empey, decided to set up a GoFundMe in order to get the glasses. Hughes knew about the GoFundMe but told Inside Edition that he didn’t expect anything to come of it.

This video shows the moment he finally puts on the glasses and sees his children’s eyes and the world around him in full colour for the first time and he’s a little overwhelmed by it all. Get ready for the feels…
