Here Are the Remains of the Soviet Space Shuttle Program

These are probably the saddest space related photographs you are ever likely to see, showing the sorry state of the Soviet Union space program which was abandoned after the Soviet Union collapsed. The photographs were taken by Russian photographer and explorer Ralph Mirebs when he recently managed to access an abandoned hangar at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Inside were two prototype space shuttles that were slowly falling apart.

Inside them the electronics, displays and seats still remain, with one of the shuttles OK-1K2, nicknamed ‘Little Bird’, almost being ready for flight in 1992. You can follow more of Ralph Mirebs work through his Live Journal, Instagram and Twitter.
