Adidas Unveils Shoes Made from Illegal Fishing Nets

In order to raise awareness on important issues such as the pollution and illegal fishing taking place around the world Adidas recently teamed up with Parley For The Oceans to create the world’s first shoe made from discarded plastic and fishing nets left behind from illegal fishing.

In order to collect the material a partner organisation of Parley, Sea Shepherd, went on a 110-day-long expedition were they eventually retrieved the materials from an illegal fishing boat.

The resulting prototype is pretty incredible. Although opinions will be divided on its styling, there is no denying that it’s a cool idea that will hopefully go some way to raising awareness. They’re also a pretty cool talking point. A series of these shoes is expected to be released later this year.
