Whilst explorer and former paratrooper Levison Wood was doing a 4,250-mile trek across Africa he came across a bush fire, but nothing could have prepared him for what he found next. After taking a look around he quickly noted that there could be animals in a nearby bush and after taking a look he made a heartbreaking discovery, a baby vervet monkey who had been abandoned.
Naturally Levison quickly stepped in to save the tiny monkey from harms way.
The fire is thought to have been started by people who were looking to claim the land as their own and it’s not clear how many other animals were killed before Wood arrived. All we can say is that we are grateful that the tiny monkey now named Florence is safe.
