These incredible sculptures are created by artist Lorenzo Quinn as part of a series titled The Force of Nature. Each of them depict a woman who we assume is Mother Nature, in long wind swept drapes swinging an earth like sphere. There is an incredible sense of motion in the sculptures, but also a sense of balance that appears to defy gravity.
Various versions of the sculpture have been put on display all around the world, each of them representing the power of nature. On his website Quinn writes “After having seen the ravaged coast of Thailand and the Hurricane that affected the Southern States I decided to create a sculpture dedicated to Mother Nature,” he goes on to explain that his sculpture is inspired by those of the past, created as peace offerings to the gods.
