This Barber Gives Free Haircuts to Kids That Read to Him

With it being that time of year again, many young students are getting ready to go back to school and for some it can be an incredibly stressful time. Thanks to barber Courtney Holmes however, kids can get a free haircut before they go back, as long as they read to him.

Holmes, a father of two himself, is taking part in the Back to School Bash in Comiskey Park in Dubuque, Iowa. Holmes told USA Today “The kids would come in, and I would say, “Go to the table and get a book you might like, and if you can’t read it, I’ll help you understand and we can read it together,” and he’s been shocked by how well his idea has taken off, “To be honest, I was amazed. The line started with four kids, and next thing I knew it was like 20 kids, all waiting for a haircut and eager to read.”

Reading out loud as a child can be terrfiying, so barber Courtney Holmes decided to try and help.
