This Monumental Sculpture Hovering Above Boston Left Everyone in Awe

Passers by were captivated by this stunning net sculpture suspended above Boston. The sculpture was created by artist Janet Echelman as a visual metaphor that visually ties together the city with art and is made from 100 miles of twine that has been carefully tied into over 500,000 knots!

At 600 feet at its widest point the sculpture truly is a spectacle. It’s also made using special twine that glows and reflects lights that are projected onto it later in the day, meaning it takes on an entirely new and other-worldly presence at night. You could spend hours looking up at this.

The piece which is titled As If It Were Already Here is just one of many sculptures that Echelman has created. You can see more of her work over on her website.
