Architects Turn Iceland’s Electricity Pylons into Giant Human Statues

Choi and Shine Architects have come up with a beautiful way of transforming Iceland’s landscapes with what was once a boring object.  The designs that transform electricity pylons into giant human statues were first proposed in 2008 and are called “Land of Giants™”.

The two architects behind Choi and Shine, Jin Choi and Thomas Shine, plan on transforming Iceland’s landscapes. In their own words “it is envisioned that these one hundred and fifty foot tall, modern caryatids will take on a quiet authority, belonging to their landscape yet serving the people, silently transporting electricity across all terrain, day and night, sunshine or snow.”

Their design proposal has won awards for its bold and creative design however it’s yet to be implemented. For more information visit here.
