If you’ve ever spotted a black fox in the wild you’re incredibly lucky. Colour morphs of the far more common red fox, the black fox (also called the silver fox) is often referred to as a different group altogether to the red foxes despite them being identical other than their appearance.
Historically silver foxes have been highly valued for their fur. Due to their mysterious nature and their rarity in some cultures they can also be associated with bad luck to those who spot them.
