Guy Walks 500km to Document Thailand’s Most Remote Locations for Google Street View

That’s right, Google hired a guy to travel 500km across some of Thailand’s most remote locations in order to document them for Google Street View, an feat made even more impressive when carrying an 18kg 360 degree camera on his back.

The person in question is Thai triathlete Panupong Luangsa-ard and thanks to his efforts over the past two years he’s mapped out 150 new places of interest around Thailand that you wouldn’t be able to see from the images captured on Googles street view cars.

“While collecting just the tea plantations and strawberry fields, he burned through four pairs of shoes,” a Google rep told Mashable. Google lends out it’s camera equipment to the ambitious explorers amongst us as part of its Google Trekker program, although we don’t think shoes are supplied! Checkout Luangsa-ard’s work in the Google Street View plugin embedded below.
