Stunning Drawings of Endangered Wild Animals by Richard Symonds

Publish date:

Artist Richard Symonds might be self-taught, but decades of practice and tweaking his techniques mean that he is now an expert in creating incredibly life-like portraits of the animals he loves the most, but it's not just his love and passion for creating art that drives Symonds to keep creating stunning works of art.

Working with large companies such as the BBC Symonds uses his artwork as a way of raising money to help the animals that the portraits depict. One of his most notable artworks is the oil painting on an African bull elephant pictured at the bottom of the page. The painting is of an elephant named Tembo and sold for $100,000 with a large portion of that money going towards the animal advocacy nonprofit The Born Free Foundation.
