Digital artist and photographer Kagaya managed to capture the incredible moment a commercial airliner appeared to leave a rainbow contrail across the sunset-purple skyline of Oshino-Mura, Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan. The unusual phenomenon is thought to be caused by the formation of cloud iridescence which is caused by the convergence of water vapor and sunlight. Apparenly Kayga was nowhere near the location of the photo and used a zoom lens to capture the moment. Either way it’s still an awesome photo.
