Although it’s not a problem most of us have or are likely to ever encounter ourselves, car manufacturers often find themselves limited by time, location and availability of certain car models when it comes to filming adverts. The solution to such problems? the BLACKBIRD.
Designed by The Mill the BLACKBIRD acts as a stunt double of sorts, becoming a rig that can be shot at any time in any location without the need for the physical car being featured in the video to be present, with fully adjustable suspension, changeable wheels and a chassis that can extended up to four feet in length and 10 inches in width.
All of this means that the car rig is capable of mimicking the driving characteristics of just about any car on the market and thanks to the photo-realistic skin added in over the top in post production you’d probably never know the difference. More info can be found here.
