Whilst most people wouldn’t hesitate to chuck firewood on the bonfire or in the fireplace to keep it burning LA-based designer Paul Foeckler takes a slightly more elegant and creative approach, choosing to turn foraged firewood found in California’s forests into beautiful lamps under the name of Split Grain.
Taking individual slices of wood Foeckler then hides lights within them and begins to slice away at the cross sections so that they can emit light outwards, illuminating the woods grain and form. The end result brings the outdoors indoors with a perfectly minimal finish.
