Artist Makes Vases That Use Negative Space to Create Fascinating Illusions

Not only is Greg Payce a talented artist when it comes to creating ceramic artworks, his creations also carry a hidden messages that’s only see when they’re placed side-by-side. Look closely between the vases that he creates and you’ll notice the outline of human figures and heads.

The Canadian ceramic artist calls the series of works Alumina and takes inspiration from Danish Psychologist Edgar Rubin who in 1915 created a series of two-dimenisonal drawings that hid human faces within them known as Rubin’s Vase. Now Payce does exactly the same but this time in 3D form, bringing his sculptures to life.
