Although not the first 360° video on the internet this one by Japanese R&D firm Wowlab takes things up a notch by not using real world footage filmed on a special camera rig, but instead creating an immersive world from scratch in which you can journey through a deconstructed Tokyo whilst also enjoying some interstellar moments that are intertwined within.
As to how they went about creating this 3D world, who knows. They don’t give all that much information on the making of the video over on their website however that’s not what’s important. What matters is that this video is amazing, so sit back and enjoy.
