Although not the first colourful hair trend we’ve featured before Instagram’s latest new hair trend is being called ‘shine lining’ and it involves turning people’s hair into an array of beautiful colours, much like a rainbow.
The trend, which is being fuelled by the hashtag #shineline actually made it’s first appearance back in 2014 however it’s only recently that it’s started to emerge again. Although the idea of rainbow hair isn’t an entirely new concept think of shine lining as a more refined version in which the hair is bleached horizontally in order to achieve an array of colours rather than through the more traditional approach of blending dyes together.
Hair colourist Aura Friedman told Allure that she “wanted to create the effect that a laser beam is hitting your hair at a certain spot,” something that she’s certainly achieved and now others have followed. Check them out below.
