Chilling Comic Follows the Adventures of a Girl and Her Robot Through a U.S. Wasteland

Offering us a chilling alternative to the country that we know so well illustrator Simon Stålenhag imagines what a post-apocalyptic USA might have looked like in late 1997, giant robots and machinery included.

The upcoming artbook which is titled The Electric State follows the adventures of a runaway teenager and her yellow toy robot as the pair travel across the west coast in an almost apocalyptic and dystopian landscape following a technological meltdown and it looks incredible.

The Stockholm, Sweden-based artist and author has done an incredible job of taking the characters, locations and scenes in his head and turning them into a very real, rather intriguing world in which intimating battle drones roam the land and virtual reality helmets have full control over humans.

His impressive track record with previous books such as Tales From the Loop and Things From the Flood has meant that Stålenhag has had no problem in raising the funds needed to turn his idea into a proper book over on Kickstarter. The project has been backed by more than 5,000 people raising more than $300,000 meaning the physical release is expected in December 2017. For more information you can visit the artists website.
