Diving has been an olympic sport since the 1904 Summer Olympic Games of St. Louis. In 1932, in Sydney, the synchronized diving was included. It is a quite spectacular sport very popular with the Olympics fans. The divers are highly-skilled acrobats who posses incredible strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic judgement and air awareness, much like gymnasts or dancers.
It is a quite demanding sport and the effort is visibly great. You can see it for yourself scrolling through these 15 photos of Olympic Divers' faces while in the middle of the action. While the first instinct might be that of laughter, you should also acknowledge the dedication and the intense focus and struggle these men and women are putting in for the sake of sport and spectacle. Enjoy!
