19 Creepy Photos Taken at Japan’s Abandoned Dreamland Theme Park

Just outside of Osaka, Japan, lies the remains of what was once a thriving theme park. First built in 1961 the Nara Dreamland theme park was inspired by California’s Disneyland resort Anaheim. Inside the park you’ll find a sleeping beauty styled castle, carousels and a roller coaster ride as well as a street that was once presumably full of gift shops or places to eat.

The parks downfall is largely attributed to the opening of Tokyo Disney in 1983. The park has been completely abandoned for some time now as you can see in the photos below, taken by Highsnobiety, it’s slowly being reclaimed by nature.
