These pictures capture the heartache of a country as 40 coffins containing the victims of flight MH17 disaster in Ukraine are returned to the Netherlands. Flags were lowered to half mast and even the windmills were put into a "mourning-position".
On the runway at the airport ceremony the coffins were greeted by King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and the Dutch prime minister, Mark Rutte who were also joined by about 1,000 relatives and friends of the victims.
In the plane crash of the Boeing 777 two-hundred and ninety-eight passengers and crew flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpar were killed. The cause of the crash is thought to be due to a missile strike, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet despite overwhelming evidence. The crash is being regarded as the the worst aviation disaster in Dutch history.
