Whilst most people still won't be up for a couple of hours, five elderly Chinese women get up at 4AM to start preparing 400 kilograms of food for over 1,300 stray dogs and puppies. The women who live in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, are all in their sixties and seventies and get up early every morning every single day of the year, even on public holidays, to run their shelter for stray dogs which is supported entirely by donations. That money goes towards making sure the dogs are fed, groomed and cared for.
One of the women, Wang, has been caring for dogs since 2000 and despite the challenges sometimes faced when caring for vicious or less tame dogs, she still persists in her selfless and heartwarming dedication to caring for the animals. Wang told Tencent News, "They're like your children, you can't bear to be apart from them, or to lose them."
