Johnny Ward didn’t grow up with a rich family, often found himself getting in to trouble and when it came to working a normal job, he hated just the thought of it. After drifting between various jobs he later found himself in a job that could see him earning as much as $20,000 a month, but still he wasn’t happy. Eventually he decided enough was enough. He wrote on Facebook “I realised that, with only one life, I don’t want to spend Monday to Friday locked in a place I don’t want to be.”
He then started a travel blog called onestep4ward and after it started to generate revenue he started step4wardmedia. Ward now works virtually with four other people a few hours a week and still makes around $1000 a day whilst he travels the world visiting every country. So far he’s travelled to 152 of the 193 countries.
Johnny Ward wasn’t happy with the average 9 – 5. He came from a poor family and has an obsession with never being poor again.
After drifting from job to job in search of something that would make him happy, he finally landed himself a job that would solve all his money worries!
But even a high paying job in Australia with the potential to earn up to $20,000 in commission every month didn’t make him happy.
Ward still wasn’t fulfilled. “I realised that, with only one life, I don’t want to spend Monday to Friday locked in a place I don’t want to be,” he wrote on Facebook.
He hated having to ask for time off stating that “I wasn’t free, having to ask for permission for take time off — and I don’t do well with authority”
In 2010 he decided to start his own blog, onestep4ward, and then started to travel.
He then met his girlfriend along the way.
People started noticing his blog and he began to make money online.
In 2012 Ward created a digital media company.
And now he only works a few hours a week, but still manages to earn up to $1000!
Ward has visited 152 out of 193 countries so far and plans to visit the rest soon.
Even though Ward earns good money, that isn’t the most important thing to him. “It doesn’t seem that real. I don’t live a flash lifestyle, so it feels arbitrary”
He also has some helpful advice for anyone else inspired by his journey.
“No matter how you plan to make money online, always start a blog, even if you’re not going to monetize.”
Now Ward is truly free, has found love and has all the financial security that he needs.
