Believe it or not, the recent sci-fi blockbuster The Martian starring Matt Damon wasn’t actually filmed on Mars, that just isn’t possible yet, but thanks to some amazing visual effects you would hardly know otherwise. Visual effects have the ability to make or break a film as sometimes they can be overused but in The Martian it looks like they’ve got it spot on. Check it out in the before and after GIFs below.
