Around a month ago Redditor carefree_dude's wife discovered an injured squirrel on the side of the road who was barely alive. The squirrel had suffered a huge head trauma, likely caused by a car. After six days of care and medicine Mitten the squirrel was able to hold food on his own but still needed help drinking and couldn't walk very well.
“He may not be able to live a wild life, but if he continues to recover, we can help him live a good life.” For now, Mitten enjoys hanging out in the family's christmas tree. Due to his injuries he may never be released into the wild again, but at least he has a caring family to look after him.
Around a week ago his wife found the squirrel by the side of the road. He appeared to have severe head trauma, likely caused by a car.
When she took him home he could barely walk, eat or do anything. They reached out to a local animal shelter who were able to advise them on how to best take care of him.
Six days later and he was doing a lot better. He's was now able to hold food on his own, but still needed help drinking and couldn't walk very well.
