Visual effects are used a lot in just about everything you watch, from the adverts you see, the TV shows you watch and the movies you enjoy at the cinema – they serve as a way of making the impossible possible for the big screen, but that doesn’t always mean they’re good.
Visual effects that help tell a narrative are perfect, but movies and TV series that only exist purely because of their spectacular special effects often lack any real story at all. Luckily however these ‘before and after’ shots taken from both movies and TV series all fall into the category of ‘good visual effects’ in that they pull it off flawlessly, blending the real world with CGI to the point that it’s hard to distinguish what’s practical effects and what’s visual effects.
