Once puppies on death row themselves, Pikelet and Patty Cakes are always on the lookout for new animals to adopt and their owners are pro ‘adopt instead of shop’. This love for taking care of animals in need is by no means for just their own species, proven by their most recent arrival.
The dogs owners recently agreed to foster two ducks and the pups instantly fell in love with them. Adopting the two chicks from a rescue organisation called Wollongong Animal Rescue Network, they ended up naming the two of them Penguin and Popinjay. When they were first introduced to Pikelet and Patty Cake the four of them instantly clicked.
As you can see from the photos below, Penguin and Popinjay are more than happy to lay around on their big brothers who have started to behave like the ducks carer’s, looking out for them and keeping them out of harms way throughout the day. Yet another example of how love knows no boundaries in the animal kingdom.
