No matter what your faith or outlook on life, it’s said that everyone needs something to believe in and for this great-granny from Brazil that just so happen to be Elrond from The Lord of the Rings trilogy as she’s been unknowingly praying to a figurine of the character for years after mistaking it for Saint Anthony.
The discovery was made by a relative, freelance makeup artist Gabriela Brandão, who after taking a closer look at her great-granny’s figurine noticed that something wasn’t quite right and decided to take to Google to further her investigation and as it turns out she was right, instead of finding “Saint Anthony” she found “Elrond”, The Lord of the Rings character that’s Lord of Rivendell.
Seeing the funny side of the situation Gabriela decided to upload the photos to Facebook along with the caption “My daughter’s great-grandmother prays to this figure of Saint Anthony every day, but looking more closely…” and the post quickly went viral. Gabriela told Buzzfeed “she didn’t understand at first,” when they tried to tell her, but you’ll be pleased to know that Elrond has since be banished and replaced with a proper figurine of Saint Anthony.
Gabriela went to visit her great-granny but noticed something weird about the statue she prays to
Under closer investigation and a quick Google search it turned out that she had actually been praying to Elrond from The Lord of the Rings, not Saint Anthony
“We tried to explain right away but she didn’t understand at first”
But in all fairness the two of them are remarkably similar. We’re sure her prayers were heard all the same, but Elrond has since been replaced with a proper Saint Anthony
