We often harp on about how loyal dogs are to their owners and what great companions they make, but it’s not until you hear stories like Cesur’s that you truly appreciate just how much dogs look up to their humans. Last week a dog named Cesur lost his owner and best friend but yet his loyalty remains as he continues to visit the grave of his human, 79-year-old Mehmet Ilhan every day.
The seven days prior to Cesur’s owner Mehmet passing away at a hospital in Bursa, Turkey, Cesur stopped eating. The connection that owners and their dogs share is always strong however Cesur and Mehmet shared an even closer bond because of Mehmet’s paralysis.
Even at his funeral Cesur continued to act in a strange way and when his body arrived home he wouldn’t leave its side, even leading a procession of family members and friends as they carried the coffin to a local mosque for the funeral. “Nobody could touch him until my father was taken to the grave and was buried,” Mehmet’s son Ali told TheDodo. He soon realised that every morning since then Cesur has been visiting his owner, “The people who work in the cemetery say the first thing he does in the morning is visit the grave of my father,” said Ali. Fortunately Ali is in a position to look after Cesur now that his father has passed.
