Photographer Captures the Horror of Tokyo’s Rush Hour in Claustrophobic Photos

If the biggest inconvenience on your commute home after work everyday is being held up in a few minutes of traffic or having to stand on the train then you should consider yourself lucky as it’s probably not anything compared to the terror inducing commute that the people of Tokyo have to endure during rush hour.

Captured by Tokyo-based German photographer Michael Wolf these photos reveal what it can be like when riding on the city’s subway during rush hour and it’s pretty terrifying to say the least. Michael first took interest in Tokyo’s subways in 1995 after the sarin gas attacks on the system and has found himself returning ever since to capture claustrophobia-inducing photos of people on their daily commutes, many of which are comparable to modern art. You can see more of his work over on his website.
